Hybrid production

Traditional craft. New tools where they earn their place.

Cabaal builds commercial animation on a traditional 3D and VFX pipeline. We add hybrid and AI-assisted methods selectively, when they improve exploration, solve a finishing problem or make a demanding format family more practical.

Art direction stays in control

Hybrid does not mean handing the image over to chance. Characters, performance, camera, lighting and compositing remain deliberately directed. New tools are treated as production techniques inside a supervised pipeline, not as a substitute for craft.

Useful on the difficult edges

The approach is particularly effective for look exploration, complex surface details, selective image enhancement and rapid iteration. For Leven met Water, for example, enhanced imagery supported the playful foam treatment while the character and scene remained controlled in 3D.

A pipeline, not a shortcut

We test hybrid steps against the same standards as traditional work: art direction, consistency, revision control and final-image quality. If a new technique makes the result less predictable, it does not earn a place in the pipeline.

Hybrid production in practice

Questions, answered

What is hybrid 3D production?

It is a directed production approach that combines a traditional 3D and VFX foundation with selected newer tools for exploration, enhancement or difficult finishing tasks.

Does hybrid production replace 3D artists?

No. Character, camera, lighting, animation and compositing decisions remain artist-led. Hybrid tools support specific steps rather than taking over creative direction.

When is a hybrid pipeline useful?

It can help with look exploration, complex detail, selective image enhancement and campaign variants when those gains can be kept consistent and reviewable.

Not sure which pipeline fits the idea?

We can map a traditional, hybrid or mixed route before production starts, with quality and control as the deciding factors.
