For OHRA’s flagship TV spot, we pushed the brand’s familiar 3D style further. Painterly depth of field, tactile characters, and graphic 2D effects, all squeezed into one increasingly crowded family car.
3D character animation by Cabaal.
The brief was to take OHRA’s online animation style onto television. We built on what was already there, giving the characters, materials, and lighting more depth. With the car hanging in midair, the camera gets close enough for all those choices to matter.
Depth of field became part of the visual style. In the sharp areas, you can read the texture of skin, strands of hair, and the weave of fabric. As the image falls out of focus, that detail softens into painterly shapes. It gives the film a softer, illustrated quality while keeping your eye on the characters.
Turning that setup into a readable, funny sequence is where the craft comes in. Each new arrival needs its moment. The camera guides your eye through the growing mess, while small reactions give everyone their own part in the story. A distracted teenager. An enthusiastic kid. A dog with very little respect for personal space.
Graphic 2D effects add another layer to the look. Their flat shapes and quick accents play against the tactile 3D characters, bringing a little more punch to the comic beats.
